Mike Muller

Mike Muller is a civil engineer and visiting adjunct professor at the Wits School of Governance. He was a national planning commissioner (2010-2015) and director general of the then Department of Water and Forestry from 1997 to 2005. He worked for the Mozambican government (1979-1988) before returning to South Africa to join the Development Bank of Southern Africa (1988-1994). Over the past decade he has advised many local and international organisations, including the African Development Bank and Mozambique’s HCB (operator of the Cahora Bassa hydroelectric dam). He has participated in global dialogues on water, energy, climate, regional integration and sustainable development issues, including the Climate Bonds Initiative, the World Hydropower Congress and the World Economic Forum’s water agenda task force, which he chaired (2012-2014).
